Cum l-a salvat Barcelona pe Messi

În afară tratamentului hormonal aplicat în copilărie, clubul catalan l-a ajutat pe Messi să depăşească unele momente delicate din cariera sa

Messi are lumea la picioare. Laudele la adresa sa nu mai contenesc, adjectivele se dovedesc a fi prea puţine, chiar şi cei, cîţiva e drept, care nu-l apreciau pe argentinian s-au  recunoscut învinşi de geniul acestuia. Messi stăpîneşte Planeta Fotbal, însă nu mulţi ştiu că, la un moment dat, a fost la foarte puţini paşi de graniţa derizoriului.

Povestea descoperirii
Povestea descoperirii lui Messi e arhicunoscută şi are doza ei de hazard. Pe scurt ,sună cam aşa. Fostul internaţional spaniol şi mai apoi antrenor al catalanilor, Carles Rexach, aflat absolut întîmplător în Argentina, la Rosario, vede la un antrenament al grupei de copii de la Newells Old Boys un zgîmboi care dribla pe toată lumea, în ciuda faptului că era aproape cît mingea. S-a interesat cine e şi a aflat că e un copil căruia cei de la Newells nu-i prevăd un mare viitor, întrucît i se depistase o problemă la hormonii de creştere, iar tratamentul costa 900 de dolari pe lună. Şef al centrului de copii şi juniori la Barcelona pe atunci, Rexach a avut o sclipire. A luat legătura cu familia lui Lionel şi l-a convins pe tatăl său să vină cu toţii la Barcelona.

S-a întîmplat în primăvara lui 2000. Messi avea 1,43 înălţime şi 35 de kilograme. La 13 ani. Ceea ce nu l-a împiedicat ca, după doar două săptămîni de pregătiri alături de alţi copii de vîrsta sa, să marchezez 5 goluri în primul său meci-şcoală. În aceeaşi grupă figurau Cesc Fabregas şi Gerrad Pique, iar fundaşul central îşi aminteşte: “Antrenorii ne-au rugat să nu-l lovim foarte tare. Am încercat cît am putut, dar după vreo lună i-am rupt piciorul”.

De aici, povestea se transformă în realitatea de zi cu zi. Tratamentul a funcţionat, iar Messi are acum, la aproape 23 de ani, pe care-i va împlini pe 24 iunie, 67 de kilograme şi 1,69 înălţime.

Episodul 1
De la debutul său la prima echipă, pe cînd avea 16 ani şi 4 luni, Messi a început uşor-uşor să cîştige protagonism. Barcelona a ştiut însă să-şi cultive jucătorul astfel încît să-l transforme în superstar şi, la un moment dat, chiar să-l salveze.

S-a întîmplat în sezonul 2006-2007. Catalanii veneau după dubla Campionat-Liga Campionilor, însă Messi era deprimat. Nu jucase nici un minut în finala de la Paris cu Arsenal şi se considera nedreptăţit, pentru că era restabilit după accidentare. A simţit nevoia să se alăture grupului format din Belletti, Deco, Ronaldinho şi Motta. Erau nedespărţiţi, se asociau în teren, dar problema era că o făceau şi în afara lui. În special noaptea, în casa de la Castelldefels a lui Ronaldinho, unde se încingeau petrecerile. Considerat capul răutăţilor, Thiago Motta a fost forţat să plece în vara lui 2007. Belletti trebuia să o facă în vara lui 2006, dar golul decisiv marcat în finala de la Paris i-a asigurat încă un an pe “Camp Nou”.

Episodul 2
Dorind să-l indepărteze de grupul brazilienilor, conducerea Barcelonei l-a luat pe Gabi Milito în detrimentul lui Chivu, sperînd ca fundaşul central, cu o foarte mare influenţă la Messi, să-l schimbe în bine. N-a mers. Şi a urmat un sezon 2007-2008 catastrofal pentru Barcelona, dar şi pentru Messi, de care accidentările s-au ţinut lanţ. Prietenia cu Deco şi Ronaldinho continua, iar suspiciunile în privinţa anumitor substanţe “albe” consumate de “Dinţos” se înmulţeau. Atunci s-a luat decizia despărţirii de Ronaldinho, dar şi de Deco, ultimul la solicitarea lui Guardiola, deja desemnat antrenor pentru sezonul viitor. Deşi preşedintele Laporta intenţiona să-l păstreze pe portughez. A fost momentul în care Messi a părut tentat să se revolte.

Episodul 3
Cel care l-a cîştigat definitiv a fost Guardiola. În vara lui 2008. Apăruse deja prima sămînţă de conflict, atunci cînd Messi declarase, în vacanţă fiind, că va participa la Olimpiada de la Beijing cu orice risc, chiar dacă Barcelona nu-l va lăsa. În cantonamentul din Scoţia, văzîndu-l abătut, Guardiola şi-a invitat jucătorul la o plimbare. Messi avea să declare ulterior: “Eram pregătit pentru orice. Însă Pep mi-a luat-o înainte. Mi-a zis: ‘Leo, eu am cîştigat aurul olimpic în 1992. E o senzaţie unică. Şi ştiu că asta îţi doreşti. Aşa că du-te la Beijing, ia aurul şi apoi vino acasă că avem treabă multă împreună’ “.

Messi a ratat aproape toată pregătirea de vară. A luat însă aurul olimpic cu Argentina, fiind căpitanul echipei. Apoi s-a întors la Barcelona şi a cîştigat absolut tot.

Episodul 4
Guardiola i-a cerut lui Messi să-i întoarcă serviciul. Jucător fragil prin excelenţă, cu o musculatură aparte, afectată de tratamentul hormonal care a făcut ca oasele să crească, argentinianul avea şi un stil destul de dezordonat de alimentaţie, fiind mare amator de pizza şi de Coca-Cola.

Guardiola l-a făcut să renunţe, i-a creat un regim specific, ca şi un program specific de pregătire, complet diferit de al celorlalţi, şi a reuşi să-l convingă că nu e absolut necesar să joace chiar în toate miuţele la antrenamente şi în toate meciurile. Aşa că în aproape două sezoane, în dreptul lui Messi nu există nici o accidentare majoră.
